Eng. Abdullah Baqshan Chair for Bee Research – KSU organized a workshop about “The Medical and Therapeutic Uses of Bee Products”. The workshop was held in KSU College of Medicine through April 24-25, 2011. Attendants include KSU Vice Rector for Graduate Studies and Research Prof. Ali Saeed Al-Ghamdi and the Chair’s financer Eng. Abdullah Baqshan besides the Chief of the International Federation of Beekeepers’ Associations Dr. Gilles Ratia and the Chair’s Supervisor Dr. Ahmed Al-Khazim Al-Ghamdi as well as experts from Saudi Arabia and abroad. |
Honeybee is considered one of the significant wealth resources in the Kingdom on which a large scale of the society depends as a basic and only source of income or as an additional one. The primary statistics reads that the number of bee classes count more than one million. Despite the huge honey production of the Kingdom that ranges about 9000 tons, the local production does not cover the domestic need. Developing a national strategic plan for promoting the bee industry in the Kingdom is in accordance with the scientific and technological uprising currently running through the Kingdom and in harmony with the directions issued by H.E. Custodian of the Holy Mosques, H.H. Crown Prince, and H.H. the Second Deputy to adopt the academic approach in planning for the Kingdom's sectors in addition to the support delivered by the government to that field since beekeeping is a significant source of income for a large scale of families and a factor that create vacancies for many young human resources, |
In cooperation with Jazan University, Eng. Abdullah Baqshan Chair for Bee Research held a workshop entitled “Honeybee: Keeping & Products”. Held on Wed. 29/12/2011, The workshop covered various topics namely modern beekeeping, promoting the benefits of beekeeping, and the problems that hinder beekeeping in the Kingdom. |
On Thursday 27/1/2011, Eng. Abdullah Baqshan Chair for Bee Research held a workshop entitled “Fighting locusts with insecticides and its effects on bee wealth”. The workshop was held in cooperation with the Beekeepers Cooperative Association in Al-Baha, the University College in Lieth, the National Center of Fighting Locstus & Its Research. Held in the University College premises in Lieth, the workshop covered various topics relevant to beekeepers and the way to solve the problems facing bees while spraying locusts with insecticides. |
